The Favourite Dominasi Daftar Nominasi BAFTA Awards 2019

The Favourite tampaknya siap menuai kemenangan di ajang penghargaan British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Film Awards setelah mendominasi dengan mendapatkan 12 nominasi.

Selain meraih tempat di kategori Best Film dan Outstanding British Film, sang aktris utama, Olivia Colman siap untuk menyabet piala Best Leading Actress, menyusul kemenangannya di Golden Globe beberapa hari lalu.

Sementara itu, rekan-rekannya di film tersebut, Emma Stone dan Rachel Weisz, juga akan bersaing untuk memperbutkan gelar Best Supporting Actress, meski harus berkompetisi dengan alot dengan Amy Adams (Vice), Claire Foy (First Man) dan Margot Robbie (Mary Queen of Scots).

A Star Is Born pun mendapatkan nominasi berganda, sebagaimana yang sudah diduga sebelumnya, termasuk untuk sang sutradara untuk Bradley Cooper dan sang aktris, Lady Gaga.

Gaga memang gagal membawa pulang piala aktris terbaik di Golden Globe sebagai penyanyi yang tengah naik daun, Ally, karena dikalahkan oleh Glen Close (The Wife), tapi di BAFTA kali ini ia memiliki kesempatan untuk mengalahkan Close yang juga menjadi nomine. Turut meramaikan adalah Melissa McCarthy (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) dan Viola Davis (Widows).

Selain mendapat nominasi di kategori Best Director berkat A Star Is Born, Bradley Cooper juga menjadi nomine di kategori Best Leading Actor, bersaing dengan pemenang Golden Globe mutakhir, Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) serta Christian Bale (Vice), Steve Coogan (Stan & Ollie) dan and Viggo Mortensen (Green Book).

Rekan Viggo dalam Green Book, Mahershala Ali, menjadi salah satu nomine di kategori Best Supporting Actor, dan akan berhadapan dengan Timothee Chalamet (Beautiful Boy), Richard E. Grant (Can You Ever Forgive Me?), Sam Rockwell (Vice) dan Adam Driver (BlacKkKlansman).

Semenjak tahun 2000, saat BAFTA mengubah jadwal acara mereka menjadi sebelum Oscar berlangsung, maka 8 dari 10 film pememang Best Picture BAFTA juga menjadi film terbaik di Academy Awards. Jadi, apakah tahun ini catatan yang sama akan berulang tahun ini?

BAFTA Film Awards 2019 akan berlangsung pada tanggal 10 Februari 2018 di Royal Albert Hall, London, dan akan Joanna Lumley akan kembali menjadi pembawa acara menyusul tahun lalu.
