Satellite Awards sudah mengumumkan daftar nominasi mereka untuk tahun ini dan film musikal yang menjadi debut penyutradaraan Bradley Cooper, A Star Is Born, ternyata sukses mendominasi. Film yang dibintangi Lady Gaga ini mendapatkan sekitar 11 nominasi, termasuk untuk Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical, Director (Bradley Cooper), Actor in Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical (Cooper), dan Actress in Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical (Lady Gaga).

Sementara itu The Favourite karya Yorgos Lanthimos menyusul dengan 9 buah nominasi, termasuk untuk para pemain filmnya, Rachel Weisz, Olivia Colman dan Emma Stone. Dipastikan para pemain juga akan mendapatkan piala ensambel berkat akting mereka.

Sedang sutradara Black Panther, Ryan Coogler, akan mendapatkan Auteur Awards dan Rupert Everett akan mendapatkan Best First Feature berkat The Happy Price.

Yang menarik lagi, film terbaru dari Alfonso Cuaron, Roma, mendapatkan 8 buah nominasi, sehingga boleh dikatakan Satellite Awards tahun akan terjadi persaingan yang sangat ketat untuk mendapatkan pialanya.

Satellite Awards merupakan ajang tahunan dari International Press Academy, sebuah organisasi global dari jurnalis hiburan profesional dan kritikus film yang mewakilo berbagai media dan badan penyiaran, baik cetak maupun digital.

Para pememang Annual Satellite Awards ke-23 akan diumumkan pada tanggal 17 Februari 2019.
