Para pemenang Cannes International Film Festival 2017 telah diumumkan dan dua aktor kawakan, Joaquin Phoenix dan Diane Krueger, telah terpilih untuk menyabet gelar Best Actor dan Best Actress untuk akting mereka dalam film You Were Never Really Here dan In the Fade.

Film satir asal Swedia, The Square, sukses membawa pulang hadiah utama,Palme d’Or, pada acara penganugerahan yang berlangsung pada Minggu, 28 Mei. Film arahan Ruben Ostlund (Force Majeure) tersebut mengalahkan 18 pesaingnya untuk membawa sang grand prize untuk Cannes ke-70 yang dianugerahi para dewan juri yang dikepalai oleh Pedro Almodovar. 

Sementara itu, 120 Beats Per Minute dari Robin Campillo memenangkan Gran Prix dan Loveless dari Andrey Zvyagintsev memenangkan Jury Prize.

Yang patut menjadi catatan, Sofia Coppola memenangkan Best Director untuk The Beguiled yang membuat ia meraih sejarah sebagai sutradara perempuan kedua yang meraih Best Director di Cannes Festival, setelah terakhir Jane Campion berkat filmnya, The Piano, di tahun 1993.

Sedang aktris pemeran The Beguiled, Nicole Kidman, meraih Special 70th Anniversary Award. Kidman memang sangat mencolok di Cannes tahun ini karena hadir di 3 film dan 1 serial sekaligus, yaitu The Beguiled, How to Talk to Girls at Parties, The Killing of a Sacred Deer dan Top of the Lake: China Girl.

Juri untuk tahun ini antara lain, Fan Bingbing, Jessica Chastain, Will Smith dan Uma Thurman. Sedangkan Monica Belucci bertugas sebagai host untuk acara pembukaan dan penutupan festival.
