Di ajang Comic-Con yang saat ini tengah berlangsung, Marvel mengumumkan jika sekuel Guardians of the Galaxy akan dirilis pada tanggal 28 Juli 2017. Tidak hanya itu, mereka juga kembali menunjuk James Gunn sebagai sutradara film tersebut. 

Hal ini diumumkan langsung oleh Gunn dan bintang utama filmnya, Chris Pratt, melalaui video sambungan satelit yang diputar oleh petinggi Marvel, Kevin Feige, di hall H, tempat berlangsungnya panel Marvel, karena mereka tengah berada di kota London, Inggris.

"How much trouble would I get in if I just told them GotG 2 was coming out?" demikian kata Pratt yang kemudian disusul oleh pernyataan Gunn, "It's time the kids take over the candy store."

Gunn sendiri telah mengkonfirmasi kehadirannya sebagai sutradara Guardians of the Galaxy melalui akun twitter-nya:

Yes, I’m writing and directing the sequel to #GuardiansoftheGalaxy for theaters July 28 2017. But first go see the first one out next week!

Yep! Tentu saja kita harus menyaksikan film pertamanya dulu untuk bisa menonton sekuel tersebut. Dan Guardians of the Galaxy baru akan dirilis pada tanggal 1 Agustus mendatang.

Meski demikian, Marvel tampaknya sangat percaya diri dengan film terbaru mereka ini sehingga berani untuk merencanakan sebuah proyek sekuel.

During Marvel Studios' Hall H presentation at Comic-Con International 2014 Saturday night, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Prattand director James Gunn announced that a sequel to the film will hit theaters July 28, 2017.

Chris Pratt and James Gunn appeared on screen for the assembled crowd to share the news, and while Guardians of the Galaxy doesn't soar into theaters until this Friday, August 1, you can get your tickets now to see the motley space-faring crew's first adventure.
