Salah satu pagelaran festival film bergengsi dunia, Cannes Film Festival, baru saja menyelesaikan agendana acaranya. Festival yang berlangsung dari tanggal 14 hingga 25 Mei 2014 tersebut telah mengumumkan daftar pemenangnya, dari barisan judul yang terlibat di dalamnya. Festival Film Cannes ke 67 telah memilih film karya auteur Turki ternama, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Winter's Sleep, untuk mendapatkan anugerah paling bergengsi di festival ini, yaitu Palme d’Or. Meski film Dardenne Bersudara yang dibintangi oleh Marion Cotillard, Two Days, One Night banyak diprediksi sebagai kandidat pemenang, justru Winter Sleep-lah yang menyabetnya. Film Ceylan sebelumnya, Once Upon A Time In Anatolia (2011), juga menorehkan prestasi karena menyabet Grand Jury Prize di Festival Film Cannes 2011.
Cotillard yang juga berada di paling atas sebagai pemenang Aktris Terbaik, pun ternyata harus rela menyerahkan piala kepada Julianne Moore yang memenangkan gelar ini berkat aktingnya dalam film arahan David Cronenberg, Maps to the Stars.
Sedang gelar Aktor Terbaik jatuh di tangan aktor senior Inggris, Timothy Spall melalui film Mr.Turner karya MIke Leigh. Sutradara terbaik disabet oleh Benneth Miller (Capote, Money Ball), berkat karyanya, Foxcatcher, yang dibintangi oleh Steve Carell, Channing Tatum dan Mark Rufallo.
Sementara itu, Mommy, film karya sutradara muda asal Kanada, Xavier Dolan, menyabet Jury Prize tahun ini, meski harus berbagi dengan Goodbye To Language, film karya maestro senior Perancis legendaris, Jean-Luc Godard. Sutradara yang juga merangkap aktor ini bukan nama asing di Cannes, karena beberapa film sebelumnya juga sempat wara-wiri di sana.
