Musim award semakin riuh dengan dirilisnya daftar nominasi Screen Actor Guild Award atau yang disingkat dengan SAG Award. Penghargaan yang diakomodasi oleh Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) untuk penampilan para aktor di film dan siaran televisi prime-time ini merupakan salah satu ajang penghargaan yang cukup bergengsi dan biasanya para pemenang di anugerah ini tidak berbeda jauh dengan Academy Award yang bisa disebutkan sebagai penutup musim award. 

Di ajang ke 20-nya, SAG Award kembali dipanaskan dengan persaingan yang ketat dari beberapa nama papan atas meski tak luput memberi atensi pada beberapa nama baru yang dapat dilihat pada daftar nominasi yang diumumkan pada tanggal 11 Desember waktu Amerika Serikat.

Film terbaru Steve McQueen, 12 Years a Slave memimpin dengan nyaris menyapu bersih semua nominasi. Ia hanya absen di kategori Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role. Dengan peraihan nominasi sebanyak ini (4), jelas 12 Years a Slave digadang-gadangkan akan menyapu bersih penghargaan.  

Film-film lain yang juga cukup mencuri perhatian adalah August: Osage County, Lee Daniels’ The Butler, dan Dallas Buyers Club  dengan masing-masing mengantungi 3 nominasi. 

Beberapa kejutan yang tercatat adalah terpilihnya Barkhad Abdi dari film Captain Phillips dan Daniel Brühl untuk Rush, meski sebenarnya tidak mengherankan juga dan bisa diprediksi mengingat akting gemilang mereka di film-film tersebut.

Tentu saja, daftar nominasi yang dilepas oleh SAG Award mungkin tidak akan memuaskan semua pihak karena tidak menyertakan beberapa nama favorit. 

Para pemenang Screen Actor Guild Award akan diumumkan pada tanggal 18 Januari 2014 dan bertempat di Shrine Exposition Center, Los Angeles.
