The 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominations

Columbia Pictures sepertinya harus melakukan kampanye yang lebih giat lagi untuk mempromosikan film David Fincher, The Social Network, jika mereka tidak menginginkan film tersebut secara perlahan mulai tenggelam oleh kepopuleran The King’s Speech maupun The Fighter. Setelah “hanya” berhasil memperoleh enam nominasi di ajang The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards, perolehan nominasi The Social Network di ajang The 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards kali ini juga hanya mampu berdiri di belakang The King’s Speech dan The Fighter. Jika kedua film tersebut berhasil memimpin dengan meraih empat nominasi, maka The Social Network harus berpuas diri dengan hanya meraih dua nominasi.

Screen Actors Guild sendiri merupakan sebuah organisasi perfilman Amerika Serikat yang anggotanya terdiri dari para pekerja film yang berasal dari latar belakang dunia akting: baik dari layar lebar maupun televisi. Mengingat jumlah pemilih Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences sebagian besar berasal dari kalangan aktor, maka tidak heran jika Screen Actors Guild Awards semakin hari semakin diperhatikan untuk memprediksi nama-nama mereka yang akan dinominasikan di ajang Academy Awards.

Karena yang menilai setiap kategori adalah para aktor yang memberikan rekognisi kepada aktor lainnya atas keberhasilan kemampuan akting mereka, maka wajar saja jika Screen Actors Guild Awards hanya berisi kategori-kategori yang berkaitan dengan dunia akting.
