Jadi, selamat tinggal The Amazing Spider-Man 3. Dan Andrew Garfield, please pack your bag and leave. Setidaknya mungkin demikian kata Sony Pictures yang baru saja mengkonfirmasi jika Spider-Man akhirnya bergabung dalam Marvel CInematic Universe (MCU).

Seperti kita ketahui bersama, meski merupakan komik Marvel, tapi hak pembuatan film masih dipegang oleh Sony Pictures, sehingga Marvel Studios yang mengerjakan film-film Marvel Cinematic Universe, seperti Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, dan tentunya The Avengers, tidak bisa mengajak sang manusia laba-laba untuk turut bergabung.

Sony Pictures sendiri untuk mempertahankan hak di tangan mereka akhirnya memutuskan untuk mereboot Spider-Man dan dibintangi oleh Garfield. Sayangnya, meski "berhasil" diproduksi sampai dua judul, sambutan terhadap seri terbaru ini tidak begitu memuaskan. Lagipula orang banyak masih berharap agar Spidey bisa bergabung bersama tim Avengers.

Dan harapan itu pun sekarang menjadi nyata.

Sony Pictures dan Disney secara resmi mengumumkan jika Marvel Studios akan memproduksi film terbaru Spider-Man. Selain proyek solo, Peter Parker juga akan berbagi layar pula bersama Steve Rogers dan teman-teman dalam rangkaian film MCU.

Film solo terbaru Spider-Man akan dirilis pada tanggal 28 Juli 2017, yang berarti berhadap-hadapan dengan Thor: Ragnarok. Tapi rupanya Disney mengubah skedul film-filmnya agar bisa memberi ruang kepada Spider-Man, hingga tidak heran jika film ketiga Thor tersebut pun digeser menjadi 3 November 2017.

Pergeseran tanggal rilis tidak hanya dialami oleh Thor, karena tiga film MCU lainnya pun harus"berkorban" untuk dipindahkan, yaitu Black Panther yang akan dirilis pada tanggal 6 Juli 2018 dan mengambil alih tempat Captain Marvel, yang kini akan ditayangkan pada tanggal 2 November 2018, yang awalnya merupakan milik perilisan Inhumans, yang digeser menjadi 12 Juli 2019.

Sebelum kita bisa melihat proyek solo terbarunya, ternyata Spider-Man akan diperkenalkan terlebih dahulu melalui film Captain America: Civil War, yang akan dirilis 6 Mei 2016 mendatang, sebagaimana rumor yang dulu pernah berkembang.

Untuk bisa melihat Spidey di MCU ternyata deal antara Sony Pictures dan Disney/Marvel hanya menghabiskan biaya $0,00 saja. Menurut laporan yang dilansir oleh Variety, kedua studio tidak akan berbagi keuntungan dari film-film yang melibatkan Spidey. Kevin Feige yang akan bertindak sebagai produser film solo terbaru Spider-Man  juga tidak akan mendapatkan bayaran. Deal antara dua studio ini berdasarkan akan kepercayaan semata-mata jika masuknya Spider-Man ke dalam MCU, dan membuat Sony Pictures terlibat di dalamnya, akan meningkatkan prestise bagi keduanya.

Sony Pictures juga masih akan mengembangkan Sinister Six atau Venom, seperti yang dikutip dari Variety ini:

Marvel Studios won’t pay Sony Pictures for the rights to put Spider-Man in “Captain America: Civil War,” the “Avengers” franchise or its other superhero films, as part of its new partnership with the studio,” according to sources with knowledge of the deal. At the same time, Marvel won’t receive a cut of the box office for any of Sony’s films that feature Spider-Man. Sony won’t receive a percentage of the revenue Disney makes from Marvel’s films that have Spider-Man, either.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also won’t receive payment for his role in helping revive Sony’s “Spider-Man” franchise, according to sources.

The studio is still moving forward with the Spider-Man villain-centric “Sinister Six,” and “Venom” spinoff, as well as a film that features female characters in the “Spider-Man” universe. “The Amazing Spider-Man 3″ has been cancelled. While Marvel’s Feige is involved with Sony’s new “Spider-Man” films, he currently is not expected to be creatively involved with the spinoffs, sources say.

Agak cukup mengagetkan juga jika dua studio besar ini bersedia untuk bekerjasama dan menggabungkan kekuatan, terlepas apa kepentingan yang berada di belakangnya.

Yang pasti, kabar ini patut disambut dengan meriah. Kita tunggu perkembangan Spider-Man versi MCU berikutnya, dan kemungkinan kabar terbaru siapa yang akan memerankan Peter Parker akan segera terungkap, mengingat Captain America: Civil War semakin dekat masa penayangannya.

(Culver City, California, and Burbank, California February 09, 2015) – Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Studios announced today that Sony is bringing Marvel into the amazing world of Spider-Man.

Under the deal, the new Spider-Man will first appear in a Marvel film from Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU). Sony Pictures will thereafter release the next installment of its $4 billion Spider-Man franchise, on July 28, 2017, in a film that will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and his expert team at Marvel and Amy Pascal, who oversaw the franchise launch for the studio 13 years ago. Together, they will collaborate on a new creative direction for the web slinger. Sony Pictures will continue to finance, distribute, own and have final creative control of the Spider-Man films.

Marvel and Sony Pictures are also exploring opportunities to integrate characters from the MCU into future Spider-Man films.

The new relationship follows a decade of speculation among fans about whether Spider-Man – who has always been an integral and important part of the larger Marvel Universe in the comic books – could become part of the Marvel Universe on the big screen. Spider-Man has more than 50 years of history in Marvel’s world, and with this deal, fans will be able to experience Spider-Man taking his rightful place among other Super Heroes in the MCU.
