Para Sineas Perempuan Dominasi Golden Globe Awards 2021

Sebagaimana yang terungkap dari daftar nominasi Golden Globes Awards 2021 yang diumumkan di hari Rabu, 3 Februari kemarin, para sutradara perempuan sukses mendominasi kategori Best Director – Motion Picture.

Aktris yang kini juga terjun ke dunia penyutradaraan, Regina King, mendapat nominasi berkat karyanya, One Night in Miami. Ia siap bersaing bersama Chloé Zhao (Nomadland) dan juga Emerald Fennell (Promosing Young Woman).

Nama lain yang tercatat sebagai nominee dalam kategori penyutradaraan adalah David Fincher (Mank) dan juga Aaron Sorkin (The Trial of the Chicago 7). Terkecuali One Night in Miami, film-film yang mereka sutradarai juga berkompetisi dalam kategori Best Motion Picture – Drama bersama dengan film yang dibintangi Anthony Hopkins, The Father.

Dominasi sineas perempuan di kategori penyutradaraan jelas menjadi catatan penting dalam sejarah Golden Globe, setelah beberapa tahun ini mereka kerap “dianaktirikan.” Sutradara perempuan terakhir yang mendapat nominasi Best Director – Motion Picture adalah Ava DuVernay berkat Selma di tahun 2015. Sedang satu-satunya perempuan yang pernah memenangkan piala ini Barbra Streisand di tahun 1984 lalu melalui film garapannya, Yentl.

Sementara itu, aktris watak pemenang Oscar, Viola Davis, mendapatkan nominasi di kategori Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama berkat aktingnya dalam Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Ia akan berkompetisi bersama penyanyi yang melebarkan sayap ke dunia akting, singer Andra Day (The United States vs. Billie Holiday), Vanessa Kirby (Pieces of a Woman), Frances McDormand (Nomadland), dan Carey Mulligan (Promising Young Woman).

Aktor yang telah meninggalkan kita untuk selamanya, Chadwick Boseman, mendapat nominasi secara anumerta dalam kategori Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama berkat aktingnya dalam Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Ia bersanding dengan Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal), Anthony Hopkins (The Father), Gary Oldman (Mank), dan Tahar Rahim (The Mauritanian).

Para nominasi diumumkan secara virtual oleh Sarah Jessica Parker dan Taraji P. Henson. Golden Globe Awards ke-78 akan berlangsung di tanggal 28 Februari. Duo komedian, Tina Fey dan Amy Poehler, akan kembali berduet sebagai pembawa acara, meski dilakukan dari lokasi berbeda; Tina di Rainbow Room, New York, dan Amy di Beverly Hilton.
