Beberapa waktu lalu muncul rumor jika Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson dan rekannya dalam film Central Intelligence, Kevin Hart, akan kembali bertemu dalam proyek remake Jumanji (1995).

Dan rumor tersebut benar adanya, karena Johnson sudah mengkonfirmasi keterlibatan dalam remake film fantasi keluarga yang versi orisinilnya dibintangi Robin Williams dan Kristen Dunst tersebut.

Ia memposting kebenaran berita ini melalui sebuah postingan di akun Instagramnya pada Jumat, 22 April kemarin:

It's OFFICIAL: Love this script! Big movie news that me and my canine gal Shang are excited to share;) To produce, create and deliver original properties to fans like HBO's #ballers to this summer's #CentralIntelligence is one of the best parts of my job. But to take great properties that are beloved worldwide like #BAYWATCH and #RAMPAGE and have the opportunity reimagine their stories in dope new ways to a whole new generation is truly an honor. It's official. We'll produce and deliver to a whole new generation a title that I love and is one of my all time favs: There's games you play for fun... then there's games that change your life. JUMANJI Working on edging up an already very good script with my @sevenbucksprod team. Up next is meeting with our producer Matt Tolmach and director Jake Kasdan. Shooting starts this fall. Promise to deliver something cool and special.. and not screw the whole damn thing up;). As always I'll keep you posted. Versi aslinya Jumanji disutradarai oleh Joe Johnston (Jurassic Park III) dan diangkat dari buku anak-anak tulisan Chris Van Allburg berjudul sama. Film berkisah tentang seorang pria, diperankan Williams, yang terperangkap di sebuah permainan selama 25 tahun lamanya. 

Sedang untuk versi terbaru ini akan diarahkan oleh sutradara penghasil Sex Tape dan Bad Teacher, Jake Kasdan, dengan Matthew Tolmach (The Amazing Spider-Man) bertugas sebagai produser. Sementara duo Scott Rosenberg dan Jeff Pinkner menulis naskag draft pertama.

Pengerjaan remake Jumanji dilakukan oleh rumah produksi milik Johnson, Seven Bucks Production, dengan Sony Pictures akan bertugas sebagai distributor. 

Sayangnya tidak disebut apakah Hart juga akan bermain dalam filmnya. 

Johnson sendiri sebenarnya sudah sangat sibuk, dengan proyek adaptasi Baywatch yang tengah berlangsung dan menyiapkan diri untuk membintangi film superhero DC Extended Universe, Shazam. Belum lagi sekuel untuk San Andreas dan Fast 8. Namun tampaknya ia masih bisa menyempatkan diri untuk terlibat dalam Jumanji. 

Remake Jumanji rencananya akan dirilis pada tanggal 28 Juli 2017.
