Ajang penghargaan MTV Movie Awards ke-23 diakhiri dengan penobatan THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE sebagai Movie of The Year. Johnny Depp mengumumkan hal tersebut setelah Ellie Goulding dan Zedd tampil membawakan soundtrack DIVERGENT.

Selain dinobatkan sebagai Movie of The Year, sekuel film adaptasi novel young adult berjudul sama karangan Suzanne Collins ini juga meraih Best Female Performance dan Best Male Performance yang masing-masing diterima Jennifer Lawrence dan Josh Hutcherson yang berperan sebagai Katnis Everdeen dan Peeta Mellark.

Sayangnya, hanya Josh Hutcherson yang hadir dalam acara penghargaan tahunan tersebut. Pemain utama lainnya seperti Jennifer Lawrence dan Liam Hemsworth tampak tidak muncul selama perhelatan berlangsung.

MTV Movie Awards tahun ini berlangsung sangat meriah. Dipandu oleh Conan O'Brien, perhelatan juga diramaikan oleh Eminem, Rihanna, dan masih banyak lainnya.
